39th Ward Sewer Project

39th Ward Sewer Project - Fall 2016

Project: A contractor with the Department of Water Management will be installing cement lining in catch basins, manholes, and other drainage stuctures in the 39th Ward.

Reason: The lining of structures will extend the life of them by 30 to 50 years, and the lining replacement is much less expensive than the structure replacement.

The limits of this work are as follows:

  • North Limit: W. Foster Ave.
  • South Limit: W. Montrose Ave.
  • West Limit: N. Pulaski Rd.
  • East Limit: N. Kedzie Ave, W. Lawrence Ave., and North Branch Chicago River

Timing: This project started on September 12, 2016, and is expected to be finished within 2 months, approximately November 12, 2016.

Traffic: When we are working in the street, it may be closed to traffic for safety reasons. You will always be able to reach your home or business, even if it means putting a metal plate in place. Outside of working hours, a lane will be left open for local traffic only.

Parking: "No Parking” signs will be posted as needed during work hours (7am-4pm). The water department is agreeable to parking outside of those hours, but insists that cars be moved by the start of the next workday. They will try to preserve as much parking as we can.
